Here a map of the part of the galaxy you are able to see will be generated, depending on the 'Sensor Technology' level you already have researched (see research screen). Your system is always in the center and the others are on their respective places, the colour and shape depends on the average population level of the corresponding system.
If you click on a system, you can see a list of the planets in the corresponding system. There the owner of the planet, the tag of his alliance (if he is a member of one), the pop-lvl and the harbours built are listed.
If you click on the player, you can see some information about him/her. If your 'Sensor Technology' level is more than 6 lvls higher than of the player you are looking at, you are able to see a full intelligence report (IR), which means his race and science level.
